Water Dish

Water

Apparently a typical evaporation rate on the playa is about a gallon of water a day for every 4 sq.ft. of exposed water surface area. By that estimate, we can expect Zoe to burn off about 2 gallons of water a day.

Measured Dish Dimensions

The basic overhead profile of the dish is that of a circle with squared off sides.

The circle's outer diameter is: 40 3/16"
The circle's minimum O.D. (due to squaring), is: 39 11/16"
The distance from the outer edge of the circle to where the bulge begins (the lip): 1 3/4"
The depth of the dish, as measured as the distance between a 2x4 resting on the dish and the bottom of the bowl: 4 5/16"
The thickness of the material: 1/4"

Yay dish

March 22, 2007 - The water dish is here!!@#$

Within an hour of getting the dish home, we had water in it and were pumping out the ripples. We would have had it set up sooner but we had to stop and build a frame for it.

The dish is basically perfect in every way and it seems to have no trouble at all holding the weight of the water placed in it. Major win.

(BTW, props to Celeste for boldly risking life-of-limb in holding up a ring of no fewer than 4 *un-heatsinked* red Luxeon 3W Stars. Balls.)
